Make Gujarat Energy Wise! Be a Wise and Honest Energy User!

All of us as Urja Rakshaks have to become energy change activists. We have to persuade citizens to ‘wisen up’ and become wise and honest energy consumers. Our mission is to get people moving towards becoming the R3E’s

  1. Responsible Energy User
  2. Rational Energy User
  3. Restrained Energy User

Who makes the right energy choice in the interest of sustainable development?

Responsible, Rational and Restrained Energy Users know that

  • An adequate, affordable, reliable and safe energy supplies are the backbone of economic development.
  • Energy is an expensive resource that must not be misused
  • 70 per cent of the state’s electricity is generated from scarce fossil fuels like coal, which cannot be replenished for another million years. Electricity is a convenient but expensive energy source and its costs the state huge sums to bring it to the end users
  • Generating electricity from fossil fuels like coal pollutes our air, land and water resources, and leads to imbalances such as global warming.
  • Everyone should be an honest power consumer and not indulge in power theft, manipulation of meters and illegal or wasteful use of electricity.
  • Dishonest Users who unscrupulously skirt their energy bills are likely to be more wasteful in their energy habits.
  • Everyone should pay electricity bills regularly. When all users are honest, the state would be able to provide adequate power without blackouts and power cuts.
  • Wherever possible renewable energy sources should be used. Solar cookers, solar water heaters, biogas plants and water pumping windmills can help save energy.
  • Using energy efficiently, wisely and honestly helps the state’s economy to grow and people to prosper.
  • Money generated through control of power theft will be available to upgrade power plants and invest surpluses in building new power plants to meet unmet demands
  • Energy conserved is nature’s bounty preserved

Unless we use energy vigilantly, wisely and efficiently, we will run out of energy and halt the pace of our progress. To safeguard our future we must conserve energy however and wherever possible and tilt the balance in favour of renewable sources of energy .
